No-exam life insurance

Which applicants qualify for fast-track underwriting, how the process operates, and what shifts if you aren't eligible.

Many carriers now use accelerated underwriting: for applicants in certain age and coverage bands, they decide from the application, prescription data, driving records, and other information without a paramedical exam. Some approvals return the same day. Each quote here notes whether an exam is required, might be needed, or isn't necessary for that product.

What it changes

No exam doesn't mean no underwriting. Your answers get verified, and a policy issued for incorrect answers can be challenged in the first two years. If the carrier's own data surfaces questions, they can still request an exam or labs; you'll decide then whether to go forward.

Who tends to qualify

Usually people under about 60 seeking coverage up to the carrier's accelerated limit, with no serious health background and no tobacco use for a year or longer. If you've had a recent doctor's visit with labs, some carriers will use those results instead of an exam.

When an exam is needed, it's typically a 20- to 30-minute appointment at your Rialto-area home or workplace with a paramedic, free of charge to you. For healthy applicants, results often improve your rate class, so an exam isn't necessarily bad news.
